"World's Most Complex Artificial Brain"

Guess who's in the "Guinness Book of World Records", 2001, on p126 in the Robots section, under the heading "World's Most Complex Artificial Brain".

Actually, the brain itself has yet to be built, but at least the brain building machine (the CBM) is now ready to start doing that job.

Here's the actual wording of the entry -

MOST COMPLEX ARTIFICIAL BRAIN

Genobyte Corp of Boulder, Colorado USA, in conjunction with Advanced Telecommunications Research (ATR) of Japan, have developed a brain for a robot cat called Robokoeko (Japanese for 'robot kitten'). The architect of this Cellular Automata Machine (CAM) is Hugo de Garis, who works at ATR's labs in Kyoto, Japan. de Garis' CAM consists of 37.7 million artificial neurons, each neuron being a group of transistors coupled as a cell. By contrast, contemporary AI 'brains' contain only a few hundred neurons. When completed, Robokoneko will have the ability to 'learn' creating new neural pathways in the process.
