European Publishing House Wants de Garis to
Write a Book on the "Artilect War" Theme
I was contacted by a young woman who is an editor of a European publishing company. She said she is interested in having me write a book (of about 200 pages) on the theme of the artilect, the Cosmist/Terran dispute, an artilect war etc.
Fine. This is something Ive been wanting the US to do for the past 2 years but to no avail. The US was 4 years behind Europe in accepting the field of Evolvable Hardware, and now seems to be just as slow in accepting the ideas of a "gigadeath artilect war over the issue of species dominance". So for the moment, I give up on the US and will place all my hopes on Europe, which is taking my ideas far more seriously.
I will be working closely with this editor, so hopefully by about the end of 2001, a book on the above themes should appear.

After the first meeting, my editor and I are thinking of trying to have the book published by May 2001, if all goes well. This is great. Getting my ideas into a book is something Ive wanted to do for years.
